It's time for back to school with PharmaOmega learn™

by art 28. August 2008 04:54
PharmaOmega learn

When I was going to high-school, back in mid 1990s, I remember how easy it was to skip on Omega-3 Fish Oil in my daily diet. I was too busy playing basketball during lunch with my friends, instead of getting my omega-3s. Many kids these days may be the same, as they quickly scarf their lunch in a rush to meet with their friends by the locker room or to "hang" with them outside. And a lot of these kids just like me, are not getting the omega-3 their brains & bodies need.

Thankfully PharmaOmega came out with learn™, which is very easy to take. They can take their pocket pack of omega-3 where-ever they go. It might sound like a commercial, but these pocket packs are ultra convenient. Just slip them into your knapsack, pocket or even your lunch-bag and off you go. Just 2 PharmaOmega learn™ omega-3 soft-gels will give your child their daily minimum.  I trust PharmaOmega learn™ because its molecularly distilled, meaning its much safer than eating fish and best of all learn™ provides the most essential omega-3s. So with "back to school" season already upon us, any savvy parent should remember to checkout PharmaOmega learn or a similar ultra-purified omega-3 product. I would, if I had kids.

Omega-3 in the news

by kara 11. August 2008 04:34

It seems that lately, anytime I flip through a magazine at the store, there is at least one article about the benefits of omega-3.  In fact, in a recent issue of Shape magazine, I counted 3 different articles – one on heart health (which specifically mentioned PharmaOmega Cardio), one on reducing pain and inflammation after exercise, and one on mental acuity – and they all emphasized the importance of taking omega-3.    It’s nice to see that the general population is finally getting educated about the benefits of omega-3.

Before I started working here, I was pretty clueless when it came to omega-3.  I had heard that it was good for me, but I didn’t really know why or how.  It wasn’t until I had gone through my first box of PharmaOmega Life that I realized how much physically better I felt after taking the omega-3 fish oil supplement.  (Not to mention all the benefits to my heart and circulatory system that I couldn't feel.) The more I learned, the more I realized that everyone should be taking a high-quality omega-3 fish oil supplement.  Now, everyone in my family (from my 72 year old father to my 3 year old nephew) takes one of our omega-3 products.  I guess you could say we are all one big, happy, healthy family!

Good Health is NO FISH TALE……………………..but it is fish oil.

by roy 8. August 2008 08:23

Credit for this entry should go to our friends at menopauseRx. I liked it os much I decided to add it: Thanks

For years, thousands of research studies have encouraged millions of healthcare providers to recommend Omega-3 (fish oil) supplements to their patients for heart health. The more Omega-3’s are studied the more health benefits are identified. In fact, recent studies have shown benefits for both body and mind. “Researchers at numerous institutions including Harvard Medical School have shown through many clinical trials that Omega-3’s have a powerful mood elevating and mood stabilizing capability.” Another study found Omega-3 supplementation influence the central nervous system and is associated with an improvement of attention and physiological functions. Like wise, recent studies by leading researchers have shown that Omega-3 has a powerful effect on increasing joint mobility and reducing the need for other medications such as NSAIDS and that Omega-3 also increases bone density and strength. Thanks ladies and keep up the good work.

5 Tips to a Healthy Heart

by Erick_Recors 8. August 2008 04:12

We all want a healthy heart, and taking your omega-3 is a large factor in maintaining that healthy heart. But here are some additional ways to keep that healthy heart ticking.

1. If you are a smoker, quitting is the best thing you can do to keep that heart healthy. Period.

2. Everyone must watch what they eat and make sure that their waistline doesn't get too large. To ensure this you should keep an eye on your food consumption and exercise regularly.

3. To ensure you and your body stays healthy, one must have regular exercise. Even if it doesn't last too long, daily movement helps keep a body right.

4. Cholesterol is a great factor in keeping a healthy heart. To maintain a good cholesterol level and balance, one should consume more healthy fats, like omega-3 fatty acids, and quit smoking because smoking lowers a person's good cholesterol.

5. Lastly, blood pressure is closely related to having a healthy heart. When you have a healthy blood pressure the risk of heart attack, heart failure and stroke decreases dramatically.

Do you know the omega-3 content of the seafood you eat?

by kara 4. August 2008 04:26

Growing up close to the Gulf of Mexico, I ate plenty of seafood especially shrimp, flounder, and grouper.  I was pretty confident that I received plenty of omega-3 during that time.  However, I never really knew how much omega-3 I was getting until I received an email asking about the amount of omega-3 in shrimp.  So, I decided to look it up, and I was shocked to find out that both flounder and grouper have just 100 mg EPA per serving, and shrimp only has trace amounts.  All along even though I was getting 2 servings of fish per week, I still wasn’t getting close to the minimum amount of omega-3 that is recommended.

That is why, even if we have the best intentions and try our hardest to be healthy, there’s still more we can do – we must supplement to get the omega-3 that our bodies need.  I still eat seafood often, but I depend on the 3 Life softgels I take daily to keep me healthy.

So What Exactly are Omega-3 Fatty Acids?

by Erick_Recors 1. August 2008 10:38

Techinically, omega-3 fatty acids are a family of unsaturated fatty acids that have in common a carbon–carbon double bond. These fatty acids are essential fatty acids and play an important role in the life cycle of cardiac cells.

Well, now that you know what they are chemically, I'm sure it'd be more helpful for you to know what they are and where they can be found, in lamen's terms.

Essential fatty acids play an important role in humans' metabolic processes and, therefore, should be an important part of your daily intake. Other than getting them in pill form, you can also find them naturally in many great tasting foods like salmon, walnuts and olives. Other sources of omega 3 fatty acids are found in shellfish, flaxseed, canola oil, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, and leafy vegetables.

Even the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has given the "thumbs up" to omega-3 fatty acids. On Sept. 8, 2004, they gave the "qualified health claim" status to two kinds of omega-3 fatty acids, the eicosapentaenoic acid and the docosahexaenoic acid. In this claim, they also stated that these acids were shown to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. Having the U.S. Food and Drug Administration give claim to the health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids gives an extra boost of support to those of you who are making sure you are getting all of your omega-3 fatty acids.

Are we really that superficial?

by roy 29. July 2008 15:11

I talked today with an old friend who has a nice business  - see www.menscience.com

In addition to creams, lotions, astringents, he also sells a very few nutritional products including Omega-3 fish oil. Fred commented that he is not very succesful with omega-3 supplements and mused why. He mentioned that the one product in his entire range that he, his wife and children and employees and friends make sure that they do take is concentrated omega-3 and that they would go without every other product before they stopped their fish oil supplements, yet his customers don't seem to have the same approach. We wondered if this was because his customers are attracted to his products beacuse they are focused on how they look, more than whether they are healthy. I also joked that maybe if he said that omega-3 would give you 6 pack abs and the endurarnce for long nights of passion, then maybe his mainly male customers would have more appetite!Wink

Of course the irony is that health is beauty. If you are healthy, you have the energy to exercise and be fit and if you can do that you will look good. Omega-3 supplements will protect your cardiovascular system, so you have a strong foundation for fitness. These same fish oil supplements will help maintain healthy joint mobility so you can run, walk, swim, bike or whatever you like to do and they will even help improve your mood - so its easier to smile and we all know that we look much better when we smile. So lets hope that Menscience's customers get this message loud and clear - its OK to care about how you look, but make sure that you are building on a healthy foundation - that way the cosmetic efforts will be much easier and far more effective.

Oh and last of all - Omega-3 supplements also help to increase blood flow - and gentlemen, we all know what that is good for...............

Omega-3 and children's learning

by roy 25. July 2008 07:20

Today, I was asked whether any prestigious institutions like the American Medical Association, currently recommend that children receive omega-3 to help with learning, concentration, add/adhd etc. I must admit I gave rather a long-winded answer about the fact that The American Heart Association and the FDA and various other august bodies now endorse Omega-3 but it took decades to get them there and that most other countries were far ahead. I also rattled on about the fact that the US was the last developed country to approve DHA (one of the key omega 3s) to be added to infant formula. The person who asked me then surprised me as she said - it doesn't have to be an American Institution - we live in an internet world with all information from all sources accessible to almost everyone. So then I pointed her to published research in a prestigious journal and lo and behold that journal is actually American - it is the Journal - Pediatrics - published by the American Academy of Pediatrics no less. She said "Roy, just because our institutions are behind the times, don't assume that our researchers and publsihers are also behind the times!" Anyway the research was done by the UK government and Oxford University and involved more than 100 children at 12 schools. The chief researcher - Dr. Madeline Portwood said: " The response has been very encouraging........ We saw that up to 40 percent.............. showed dramatic improvements. In some cases we saw reading gains of between 18 months and four years and attentioan gains as much as 400 per cent"

This initial study has been followed by three more trials for pre-school, K through 4th grade and Middle School and upwards. You can read about them in detail at http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/cgi/content/abstract/115/5/1360

The conclusion was "significant improvements for active treatment versus placebo were found in reading, spelling, and behavior over 3 months of treatment in parallel groups. After the crossover, similar changes were seen in the placebo-active group, whereas children continuing with active treatment maintained or improved their progress.

Athletes and omega-3's

by Jo 24. July 2008 04:03

The other day I received a call from my dad, an avid runner who religiously jogs 10 miles a day.  The purpose for the call was to let me know that his doctor had recommended he take fish oil!  While jogging has kept my dad in great shape and health, his feet have taken a beating in the sense that he's developed painful bunions and arthritis - to be expected after 25 years of hitting the pavement!  Upon hearing about the news, I mailed him a sample pack, and whaddaya know........ he took his first softgel, and miraculously felt better the very next day.  It's like I've told him all along, as I call friends and family members every time I hear a customer's "success story,"  some people experience the positive results from fish oil over-night, for others it may take awhile - either way, the results are always amazing!

PharmaOmega products vs. the other Omega 3's available

by linda 24. July 2008 03:52

I have always been interested in living a healthy lifestyle.  I try to eat right, workout, get enough sleep, reduce stress, and take the right supplements.  I subscribe to health and fitness magazines, and try and incorporate all the health and wellness tips I learn into my family's life.  Prior to working here at Nourishlife, I took, and gave my family Omega 3.  I had heard so much about the benefits of taking fish oil, that I went into my local drugstore and purchased the largest bottle I could find for the lowest price.  I was now providing my family with the Omega 3's that I had learned we are so deficient in.  Or so I thought!  Since working here, I have learned so much about how not all fish oil is created equal.  I used to think that if it said 1000mg on the label, you were getting that much Omega 3 in the capsule.  Not true.  1000mg is the size of the capsule- not the amount of EPA and DHA inside that capsule.  Reading the supplement facts on the back of the bottle is where you find out what you are really getting.  Make sure you look at the serving size first.  All information on the label correlates with the serving size.  I had been taking fish oil that had a serving size of 3 capsules, and only provided 300 mg of EPA and 100 mg of DHA.  That means each capsule only contained 100 mg of EPA and about 33 mg of DHA!  The PharmaOmega Life product contains 500mg of EPA and 200 mg DHA PER capsule.  I also learned that some brands out there contain soy, fillers, saturated fat, and even cholesterol.  You can check out the purity of a product by doing the freezer test.  High quality, pure fish oil( like PharmaOmega) will not freeze.  I put one of my "drugstore" brand capsules in the freezer and it became cloudy, clumpy, and frozen.  That is what I was having my family put into their systems!  At that point I figured we would be better off not taking Omega 3 vs. taking one that was so impure.  I threw out that big bottle of fish oil!

Now that I have become more educated on Omega 3, my family takes PharmaOmega products.  My husband and myself take LIFE, and my 11 and 9 yr old daughters takes LEARN.  I even have my parents and in-laws taking CARDIO.  I feel better than ever, and actually experience the health benefits Omega 3's are known to provide!  I never had any relief from my joint pain when taking the "drugstore" brand nor did I feel any improvement in my mood.  After taking the LIFE daily for 3 months, I felt a dramatic improvement in my joint pain, and a significant increase in a sense of well being.  My children say they feel "more focused" and that they "feel good" taking LEARN.  We have all being taking our PharmaOmega Omega 3's for about a year now, and I feel so good knowing that I am now giving my entire family a highly concentrated, ultra pure, very effective product that is truly providing the health benefits we need!
